As I’m still carrying a lot of my winter weight I decided to make another loose-fitting linen dress. I brought a lovely navy linen/viscose from Fabric Godmother back from the UK but only had one metre. Luckily I had Simplicity 1665, view A, which has a contrast top half, this allowed me to use up some white linen I had left over from a previous project. I did a colour-fast test first to make sure I could wash the finished dress.
It’s a very straight forward pattern which I have made up before and it only took a few hours to complete. I would like to make view B in a more formal fabric like the one in the pattern picture sometime and it would also work as a dress using a sheer skin coloured fabric on the top to make the dress look off the shoulder. I have reviewed the pattern on Pattern Review here.
The only alteration I made was my usual petite adjustment to raise the waistline but next time I will shorten the shoulder a little too.
I added some decorative top-stitching in navy to bring the two halves of the dress together.
I gave the dress an outing this afternoon, dim sum at Imperial Treasure in Ngee Ann City. I’m looking smug as it’s my favourite dim sum restaurant in Singapore.
