This pattern was a big hit last summer when it was released and many bloggers have written about it. It’s a very easy pattern and suitable for beginners but could be a spectacular evening gown if made with formal fabric.
I made a wearable muslin in case I decide to make a more formal version. I used an Indonesian cotton batik which I purchased in Arab Street, Singapore. I only had 3 metres and it was only 114cm wide so I had to make the skirt less full. I also omitted the seam at the front and cut it on the fold. I couldn’t pattern match but the design is quite random anyway. I also used an invisible zipper which I usually do. I did my usual petite adjustment at the waist but next time I will make the bodice slightly longer. I did sew up the front about 3 inches as it was too low-cut for me especially as I will be wearing it in Asia.
I will be wearing this dress for resort vacations.
