I bought this fabulous fabric from Valli Tessuti in Rome two years ago and spotted immediately where the influence came from as I’d been admiring the collection for months. It took me a while to make it up as I was nervous cutting into such beautiful fabric. It’s a medium weight silk satin which is not too shiny. I wanted to make the most of the design but to do that, the black panel at the front waist had a break in it. I can just wear a thin leather belt but as the break comes at the waist it’s not too bad.
I used McCalls 6433 view B for the bodice but drafted my own skirt. I also put in an invisible side zipper as I didn’t want to break up the design on the back.
I lined the bodice in a light weight silk satin but not the skirt as I wanted it to be light weight to wear in the summer or in Singapore and the fabric is heavy enough to keep it’s shape without.
Sorry I can’t show any photos with me in it but I have no one to take one of me at the moment!
